A phone disappears

Notice

The device is gone and may still be unlocked.

Use Find My or the platform equivalent, mark it lost, contact the carrier, revoke important sessions, then restore from a known backup.

Device rules worth agreeing

Updates

Automatic security updates stay on. Replace devices that can no longer receive them.

Screens

Bedtime and shared-space rules apply to adults too; parental controls are visible, not secret.

Selling or gifting

Confirm photos and files are backed up, sign out, remove the device from the family account, then erase it.
