Desk, Lamp & Shelf
Stone desks, sideboards, and light through marble — the father’s study.

Stone at writing height. Ink, light, and pause on the same plane.
This part of the room is still being gathered.
This part of the room is still being gathered.
Sideboards that behave like architecture. Doors that swing on purpose.
This part of the room is still being gathered.
This part of the room is still being gathered.
Long, low, deliberate. The wall that greets you before the desk.
This part of the room is still being gathered.
This part of the room is still being gathered.
Light from the other house, a face at the door, one vessel on the desk.
Stone desks for paper and pause
Sideboards and consoles that hold a lifetime of objects
Light through marble — lamps that stay with the chair
Side tables and objects for the shelf beside the work
We named Abi for the father. He kept a room for paper and pause — a desk that did not yield, a shelf that held what he meant to keep, a lamp that stayed on after the house went quiet. Clutter in that room says we are too hurried to think. A cleared desk says the work is worth sitting for. Abi collection is that room: stone to write on, stone that holds the books, light through marble. Father still asks: “Will you sit with it?”
